John Deacons has been making paperweights in Scotland for many years. He started with Strathearn and then worked for Perthshire for ten years. He founded J Glass in 1978 and we purchased some of these weights around this time. John is a very skilled and incredibly versatile paperweight maker and has produced a very wide variety of styles. His output is amazingly large. Unfortunately with the more basic items has probably resulted in a lowering of their market value. There are also occasions when his colour combinations seem to us rather brash. However at his best, as in this example, the quality is equal to, if not surpasses the best. This is a magnum close pack 3.3 inches in diameter with and excellent variety of millefiore and silhuoette canes
